Weather Radios

In addition to road signs, I like recording the alerts from Weather Radios. In fact, I like it so much that I run a little YouTube channel called NWR Maryland.

I've been recording weather radio alerts since 2011 on an early, small Canon digital camera. We've come a long way since - so much that my main recording device is now my phone, something I never could've imagined back when I first started. I've always been big into weather and later became interested in the Emergency Alert System (EAS), so I decided to combine the two and record alerts from my weather radios.

Since beginning in 2011, I've recorded well over 2500 EAS alerts, with 1400+ of them uploaded onto my YouTube page. I'm dedicating this page to statistics and stories about some events I've recorded EAS alerts of, whether personal events or events that are well known.

Here's an example video:

Here are all my alerts, with links and information about each:

Weather Radio Stories

This section will be dedicated to specific weather radio recordings I've published and the stories behind them, mainly rare recordings I've captured. Snippets about some major tornado EAS alerts I caught (e.g., El Reno 2013) as well as other odd toned warnings/watches/advisories (e.g., Hurricane/Tropical Storm alerts, Civil Emergencies, Special Weather Statements, etc.) will be published here.
