In addition to roads and road signs, I like recording Emergency Alert System alerts from weather radios. In fact, I like it so much that I have a YouTube channel called NWR Maryland. If you were on YouTube and watched my videos when I first started uploading back in 2011 (or a few years after), my channel name was weatherlgfan.
When I first started recording these alerts, they were on a small Canon digital camera my mom had. We've come a long way since, and now my iPhone is my primary video camera. I've always been into weather (you can thank Hurricane Isabel for that one...) and later became interested in the Emergency Alert System (EAS), so I decided to combine the two passions. That's how this all came to be!
Since beginning in 2011, I've recorded well over 3000 EAS alerts, with around 1200+ of them uploaded onto my YouTube page. This page serves as the landing for information about each video I've recorded, as well as some stories that I plan to add about certain alerts or storms.
Here's an example of one of my videos!:
Here's some of my alerts I've recorded, as well and links to the videos, the actual NWS text bulletins, and more
info about each alert I've captured.
This section is under construction, so don't mind the gaps in data! The landing pages are organize by year:
Alerts Streamed or Recorded Online
I created a new page dedicated to the history of various weather radio stations, including when they began broadcasting and various other pieces of information. I try to back everything up with a source as well!
