OH 7 is a state highway that runs along much of the state's eastern border, only deviating less than a dozen miles from either the Pennsylvania or West Virginia borders.
This page focuses on the section of OH 7 from its beginning in Cheasapeake to the I-77 interchange.
Northbound
Photographed from US 52 to OH 527
OH 7 starts at a trumpet interchange west of Chesapeake with US 52. OH 7 used to begin farther east -
specifically the current junction of OH 527 and OH 7 - but was extended when US 52 was re-routed over the
West Huntington Bridge in the early 1980's. There's an exit on the bypass surrounding Chesapeake that
leads to the city center. This exit is what remains from when the bypass was initially built in the 1960's,
before OH 527 was constructed to its current terminus. Some button copy signs also remain on this stretch of
road.
We now approach the end of the Chesapeake bypass where traffic exits onto OH 527. OH 7 technically
continues ahead onto OH 527 via an implied concurrency, but it's not signed as such.
A covered button copy sign sits on the left side of the overhead gore, presumably for the extension of the
Chesapeake Bypass that sits in limbo. You can go straight to access Melody Lane, which brings you to a
neighborhood on the north end of Chesapeake. There's also another on-ramp loop to OH 527 if you continue ahead,
though it's likely used very little. The road ahead otherwise ends at a grass field, with most traffic
continuing onto OH 527 and the implied OH 7 concurrency.
OH 7 continues on OH 527 into Chesapeake.
Photos ahead can be found on the OH 527 page linked above.
