OH 527 begins at a trumpet interchange with OH 7 just north of Chesapeake city limits. OH 7 is implied to have a concurrency along this stretch of road until the intersection of OH 527 and 3rd Avenue, where it turns towards Proctorville. Despite this, the road is marked as "To OH 7" on the Chesapeake Bypass.

At the intersection with 3rd Avenue, we see that continuing ahead towards the Robert Byrd Bridge will take us to US 60 in Huntingtown, WV. OH 7 here turns left.

End of OH 7 concurrency
We now approach the Robert Byrd Bridge (also called the Sixth Street Bridge). The bridge itself is maintained by West Virginia but carries OH 527 technically until the state line. Upon entering WV, the route carries WV 527 to I-64 just south of Huntington.
