I-97 is the second shortest two-digit interstate in the entire interstate highway system; it runs exclusively within Anne Arundel County, MD as a connector from Baltimore to Annapolis. Much of the northern end of I-97, known as the Glen Burnie Bypass, carried MD 3 prior to the 1987 interstate designation.
