I-95 in Maryland
John F. Kennedy Memorial Highway
Capital Beltway

I-95 is one of the major thoroughfares through Maryland. I-95 connects Maryland's largest city, Baltimore, to Washington D.C. and Philadelphia, as well as numerous suburbs and communities in the greater Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area. I-95 runs concurrently with I-495 along the Capital Beltway from the Virginia border to College Park, where it splits and continues northeast toward Baltimore. Once split from I-495, it runs parallel to U.S. 1 until Baltimore, where it begins to follow along the U.S. 40 corridor to the Delaware border. The stretch of I-95 from Baltimore to the Delaware line is named the John F. Kennedy Memorial Highway after former president John Fitzgerald Kennedy, who attended the ribbon-cutting 8 days before his assassination in Dallas. There are two tolled sections of I-95 in Maryland: one along the J.F.K. Memorial Highway at the Susquehanna River and an optional toll along the I-95 Express Toll Lanes northeast of Baltimore.
