I-395 is a short interstate route that connects I-95 to downtown Baltimore. The interstate was named Cal Ripken Way in honor of Cal Ripken Jr., famous Baltimore Orioles baseball player.

After the lanes from both I-95 north and south merge together, we are greeted by an over-water three-lane highway. The first BGS is for Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, a boulevard bypass of Baltimore's urban core. MLK Jr. Boulevard will also take you to M&T Bank Stadium and the parking for Oriole Park at Camden Yards via Lee/Russell Streets.

Continuing straight ahead takes you towards downtown Baltimore and the Inner Harbor. You will also pass directly next to Oriole Park at Camden Yards as I-395 empties onto Howard Street.

Just as quickly as we got onto I-395, it's already ending. Signs greet us that a traffic signal (Howard St @ Conway St) is just 2000 feet ahead. We also get the little sign saying that I-395 is Cal Ripken Way, but you only get about another 500 feet of interstate to enjoy before the reality of gridlocked traffic begins. At least you might see the light rail that runs along Howard Street!
