I-10 is the major west-east interstate through Louisiana, running through both its capital city, Baton Rouge, and its largest city, New Orleans. It enters from Texas in the west, traversing through the Acadiana region and moving through the major cities of Lake Charles and Lafayette. From here it continues to Baton Rouge before straddling the Florida Parishes and reaching the New Orleans metro. I-10 dips through the heart of New Orleans before crossing Lake Pontchartrain and continuing into Mississippi near Slidell.
